KREATiS is a research company that develops in silico methods to predict the hazards of chemical substances
for human health and the environment. The company is scientifically and regulatorily recognized, particularly
for its (Q)SAR models in physico-chemistry and (eco)toxicology. Through various research projects, KREATiS
shares its expertise in the in silico field and develops its own predictive tools. A significant part of its
commitment is driven by the desire to understand the mechanistic interactions between chemical molecules
and biological systems to quantify their impacts on human health and the environment.
In this context, KREATiS is looking for a master's student with significant knowledge in chemistry, biochemistry,
(eco)toxicology, and/or biology who has a strong interest in scientific communication and dissemination. The
selected candidate will work on MechoApedia, an educational tool that explains the relationships between
the chemical structures of substances and their mechanism(s) of toxic action (MechoAs) on biological
matrices, predicted using the MechoA Premium structure-activity relationship (SAR) model for classification
and identification of mechanisms of toxic action.
The objective is to build upon the existing bibliography on mechanistic alerts. You will need to summarize the
information already gathered and synthesize it into a comprehensible scientific text aimed at a broad
audience of scientists (e.g., chemists, toxicologists, biologists, ecotoxicologists, bioinformaticians, risk assessors,
etc.). The use of figures (existing or to be created) to facilitate the understanding of the results obtained by
the users of the MechoA Premium model is also part of this work.
If you are interested in the mechanistic understanding of interactions between chemical substances and
biological matrices, as well as in improving scientific communication tools, this internship is for you.
In this internship, you will:
- Analyze the literature and existing data already collected by KREATiS on MechoAs to propose a synthesis in
scientific English documents. Depending on the progress of the work, the number of alerts to be studied may
vary.
- Be a driving force to improve the tool and educational content.
- By the end of the internship, depending on the remaining time, study data and/or publications (with the
help of our chemists, (eco)toxicologists, and chemo-informaticians) not yet addressed by our experts to
participate in the development of new structural alerts in MechoA Premium.
Candidate Profile: - Proficiency in written English is essential.
- You are rigorous and well-organized.
- You know how to use bibliographic research tools.
- Reading scientific articles doesn't intimidate you.
- You can synthesize essential information into diagrams and/or short texts.
- You are curious and eager to improve your knowledge in chemistry, toxicology, and ecotoxicology.
- You are motivated by the understanding of toxic mechanisms of action of molecules.
- You enjoy working in a team.
